The official Istanbul city ferry runs a dedicated 6-hour Bosphorus tour that almost no tourists take, which I think is a mistake. You sail the full length of the Bosphorus, stop at Anadolu Kavağı for 2.5 hours (enough time for lunch and to walk up to Yoros Castle), then return.
- Departs: Eminönü Pier daily at 10:35 AM, if staying in Beşiktaş – hop on from Beşiktaş Pier at 10:50
- Arrives Anadolu Kavağı: ~12:25 PM
- Return departs: 15:00 PM · back at Eminönü ~16:35 PM
- Price: ~$15 round trip (you need to buy a separate ticket at the pier, unfortunately Istanbulkart isn’t applicable for this route)
- How to buy tickets: at Eminönü Pier or Beşiktaş Pier from the official Şehir Hatları ticket booth. Buying tickets online isn’t possible yet.
- No guide, no extras, large classic ferry
Pro tips:
- Buy your ticket 1 day in advance – you need to spend time going to the Eminönü Pier or Beşiktaş Pier to get the ticket from the official Şehir Hatları ticket booth, as they still don’t sell tickets online. You can easily do it while exploring the Historical Centre.
- Plan a walk when at Anadolu Kavağı – you have here a 2,5-hour break. Enough to explore the neighborhood and sit for lunch in a seaview restaurant or to visit Yoros Castle.
My honest take: Same views, no experience. If you mainly want the scenery and want to save money – this is the right call for you. If you want a guide, drinks, and a curated format – the tours above that I’ve selected are absolutely worth the price difference.

One warning from my experience: People near Galata Bridge will offer you “cheap cruises.” These are consistently overcrowded, shorter than advertised, and on boats that look better in photos than in person. Book through Viator or a named, reliable operator with proven reviews.
My Practical Tips for you:
- Book sunset slots 2–3 days ahead in May–September — they sell out
- Bring a jacket always! Even in July, it gets cold on the water because of the wind and especially once the sun drops
